Methodist Chapel Aid Ltd is a small, successful bank operating in accordance with the highest ethical standards. Its primary objective is to provide loans to Christian churches and associated organisations at the lowest practicable rate of interest. It also takes deposits and holds a portfolio of investments.
The Company is seeking to appoint a non-executive director, in anticipation of a planned retirement, with a sound understanding of corporate governance process. Ideally a candidate should have expertise and experience in at least one. or more, of the following areas: banking, investment management, legal and/or financial accounting.
Some experience of Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA) and / or Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) compliance would be an advantage but not essential. In addition, the successful applicant will be a good team player who is in sympathy with the purposes of the Company.
Non-executive directors are expected to attend five scheduled Board meetings per year and, potentially, five Audit and Risk Committee meetings, in addition to other ad hoc meetings. There may also be a requirement to attend regulatory meetings as required by the PRA and the FCA in addition to various relevant seminars and conferences.
