Key Responsibilities: Lead the development and implementation of the school’s SEND policy, ensuring it aligns with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation. Oversee the identification, assessment, and provision for students with SEND, ensuring that their individual needs are met effectively within the classroom. Take responsibility for the creation, review, and monitoring of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) for students with complex SEND, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place and progress is carefully tracked. Support and guide teachers in differentiating the curriculum to meet the needs of students with SEND and provide ongoing professional development on SEND best practices. Work closely with teaching staff, teaching assistants, and external specialists to ensure that SEND provision is delivered effectively. Ensure the effective use of Pupil Premium funding to support SEND students and monitor the impact of this funding on student progress and outcomes. Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide a collaborative and holistic approach to student support. Maintain accurate records of assessments, interventions, and progress for all SEND students, ensuring that data informs decision-making and continuous improvement. Lead and manage the SEND team, supporting staff to ensure the successful delivery of SEND provision across the school. Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students feel valued and able to thrive academically and socially. Ideal Candidate: A qualified teacher with a National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (SENCO) or equivalent qualification. Experience working in a SENDCO role, particularly with students with a range of SEND needs. Knowledge and experience of the Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) process and its legal requirements. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies. A passion for ensuring all students have equal opportunities to access education and reach their full potential. Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and lead a team. A thorough understanding of SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice, and the challenges and opportunities within an inclusive educational environment.
