London Museum has an exciting opportunity for a Collection Care Manager who has a pragmatic approach to the care and management of collections. In this role you will manage the collection care team in the creation of a new museum at West Smithfield as well as delivering front of house programme work and collection storage projects.
As a key member of the conservation and collection care department’s management team you will take a strategic lead in the care of our collections. You will develop and implement pragmatic collection care and management across all preventive conservation disciplines including environmental monitoring and control, integrated pest management, hazardous collection management and emergency salvage and planning. You will also support the procurement, installation and roll out of a new environmental monitoring system across our sites.
Our Collection Care Manager will need to have a qualification in collection care or conservation, a good working knowledge of a range of conservation and collection care disciplines, demonstrable experience of managing a busy conservation or collection care team with proven experience of managing large complex collection projects. Well-developed negotiating and communicating skills and the ability to build strong working relationships are also essential.
