Job description The Sponge Project is one of 25 Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation Projects (FCRIP) across England to receive grant funding from the Environment Agency. Slough Borough Council is the lead partner in delivering the project. The project aims to raise awareness of, and preparedness for, flooding and install sustainable drainage and natural flood management measures. The project area includes two river catchment areas in northwest Slough and South Buckinghamshire – the Salt Hill Stream and Chalvey Ditches river catchments. It is a six-year project which started in 2021 and runs through to the end of March 2027. The successful candidate would be part of the project team for the National Flood Forum, working in service of the Slough Sponge project partnership with four key delivery partners: Buckinghamshire Council The National Flood Forum The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Slough Borough Council The project seeks to achieve the following outcomes: Restoring rivers, installing sustainable drainage, and using land management to recreate a more natural environment that manages surface water and controls flooding. Developing tools for planners to improve future flood resilience through planning and identifying future funding schemes. A community-involved approach to flood management design and delivery. Measuring the benefits of sustainable drainage and flood management with a required monitoring baseline. Key responsibilities include: Managing work package 2 (WP2) focusing on community engagement within the Slough Sponge project. Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders including flood risk management authorities and charitable organizations. Facilitating communication among WP2 team members and overseeing administrative tasks. Coordinating and reporting on project risks, issues, and decisions. Preparing project reports and maintaining project documentation. Tracking project progress and finances, ensuring budgets remain on target. Key skills required: Experience as a Project Coordinator or similar role. Knowledge of project management and development procedures. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong communication and leadership skills. Teamwork, multi-tasking, and attention to detail.
