The Glasgow Academy is seeking a qualified Early Years Practitioner who can register as a practitioner with S.S.S.C, at our Newlands site. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, motivational, reliable, and able to work as part of an established team to create a welcoming, fun-filled environment for the children in our care. It is essential that the candidate is also enthusiastic about outdoor learning.
The Post
* To contribute a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the setting.
* To offer a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment for all children.
* To work as part of the early years team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, develop and learn.
* To build and maintain strong partnerships, working with parents/carers.
* To operate within multi agency networks to ensure the correct support is in place for individual children.
* To keep up to date with childcare developments through reading relevant resources, attending training events and planning meetings and keeping appropriate records of progress for Continual Professional Development.
* To contribute to an early years curriculum which ensures that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met. Working in conjunction with other staff to enable all children to reach their full potential, in accordance with national and local standards and guidelines.
* To organise learning materials and make imaginative use of resources.
* To support all staff and engage in good team working.
* To be involved in the on-going self-evaluation and development process.
* To complete observations, assessments, individual learning journeys and any other relevant documents for the children attending the setting. Ensure these are shared with parents/carers and other key adults in the child's life regularly.
* To support children in acquiring self-help skills including dressing, feeding, toileting and an awareness of personal hygiene.
* To ensure that everyone is treated as individuals with respect and full consideration, in line with the school Equal Opportunity Policy.
* To promote the philosophies of learning through play and active learning.
* To develop and maintain regular communication with parents/carers to facilitate day to day caring and early learning needs.
* To provide support to parents in a timely manner when needed.
* To provide encouragement and praise, giving help when needed and showing appreciation of children's efforts.
* To work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the Glasgow Academy ethos is fulfilled.
* To develop your own professional role within the wider team.
* To embrace outdoor learning and ensure the outdoor area is available to children daily and in all weathers.
* To be registered with the S.S.S.C. or GTCS.
* To carry out any other reasonable duty for The Glasgow Academy.
* To work within any of the three school sites to meet the needs of the service.
Remuneration and Hours of Work
The hours of work are from 8.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, Term-Time. The salary will be £15.28 per hour.
