About the Role
The Head of Buying will play a pivotal role in driving the buying strategy, managing the critical path, and delivering trend-driven, profitable collections that align with Hush’s creative vision and customer expectations. Reporting to the Buying & Merchandising Director, this role is all about leadership, strategy, and innovation.
What You’ll Do
1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the buying strategy to support business objectives, ensuring alignment with Hush's creative vision and customer expectations.
2. Product Range Development: Oversee the creation of commercially strong, trend-driven collections, working in partnership with Design, Technical, and Merchandising teams.
3. Market Insight and Innovation: Stay ahead of market trends, competitor activity, and customer behaviour to ensure Hush remains relevant and competitive. Drive innovation through the introduction of new product categories or ranges.
4. Supplier Relationships: Build and nurture strong relationships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, high-quality products, and ethical sourcing practices.
5. Commercial Performance: Collaborate with the Merchandising team to achieve sales, margin, and stock turn targets, ensuring the right product is in the right place at the right time.
6. Sustainability Focus: Integrate sustainability practices into the buying process, ensuring alignment with Hush's environmental goals.
7. Critical Path Management: Oversee the product development and production lifecycle, ensuring all critical milestones are met and timelines adhered to.
8. Leadership and Team Development: Inspire, mentor, and develop the Buying team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and accountability.
What You’ll Bring
1. Extensive experience in a senior buying role, preferably within a womenswear brand or retailer.
2. Exceptional understanding of fashion trends, consumer behaviour, and the womenswear market.
3. Strong strategic and commercial acumen with a proven ability to deliver sales and profit growth.
4. Excellent supplier management and negotiation skills, with a focus on ethical and sustainable sourcing.
5. Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
6. Proficiency in managing product development lifecycles and critical path milestones.
7. Passion for sustainability and innovation within the fashion industry.
