Description
As Group Legal Counsel, you will deliver an effective legal service to the group companies; advising colleagues across all business divisions, including senior management and the Board members. In this role, you’ll draft and negotiate client and supplier agreements. Ensure that commercial contracts are progressed appropriately, in a timely manner, to ensure the company achieves its commercial goals. You’ll manage and progress litigation and regulatory matters, both directly and through the management of external advisors.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for someone to:
* Negotiate, review, draft and advise on commercial contracts and terms and conditions. Negotiations will take place with a wide range of parties including clients, subcontractors and suppliers
* Communicate and work with all parts of the company, engaging directly with other stakeholders including external stakeholders and insurers
* This role will also see you manage and support a Solicitor.
* Advise on a wide variety of legal matters across the group, including supply matters or contractual disputes
* Ensure that the board are fully appraised of all matters being dealt with
Experience and Qualifications
* Qualified solicitor with extensive post qualification experience (or equivalent qualification/experience)
* Strong commercial experience and ability to provide innovative solutions to complex legal and commercial matters
* Experience of negotiating and drafting commercial contracts
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
* Knowledge and experience of NEC/FIDIC/JCT suite of contracts is desirable
* Knowledge and experience of adjudication is desirable
* Proven ability of working under pressure to tight timescales
* A team player with an ability and willingness to take a proactive role in the business
* Interest in the development and motivation of others
