Role Summary
The purpose of the IVC Operative is to process and manage the daily operations of the co-mingled food and green waste that is brought to the site by using composting technology, plant and machinery within the site. The operative will be responsible for the correct receipt of the waste, moving and handling the product using various plant machinery in a safe manner and within the legislative requirements of the site to create a desirable quality compost.
Key Responsibilities
1. Compliance with the Environmental Permit (Site License) ABPR, PAS 100, BMS and the Health and Safety and Welfare of all people on site.
2. Ensure the highest quality compost products are always produced and ensure it is to the required Company and legal quality standards.
3. Driving of Loading Shovel taking product from the reception building to the IVC tunnels, loading screeners and unloading vessels.
4. Driving telehandler for loading and processing on the Hurrikan works assessing the in feed product and altering machine settings to get the most out of the equipment as seasons alter product.
5. Maintenance of the plant and equipment ensuring daily, weekly, monthly checks are completed.
6. Ensure that the plant operates efficiently and effectively, meeting all throughput requirements.
7. Following all Health and Safety process and safe systems of work.
8. Keeping required records, in respect of all compliance, operations, maintenance and procedures.
Key Requirements
1. Loading Shovel certificate or proven capability.
2. Knowledge of composting & environmental process.
3. Knowledge of working safely, including fire safety.
4. Worked within a Management System.
5. 1st Aid an advantage.
6. Relevant Pesticide certificate (PA1;PA9;PA6) an advantage.
7. Mechanical aptitude.
8. Agricultural background desirable.
9. Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labour as required.
10. Knowledge of mechanical equipment used in waste management operations.
11. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
12. Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
13. Good communication skills to work as part of a team.
