Job Description
The opportunity
The HVDC Engineering Plant Electrical Design department manages the auxiliary power system delivery for HVDC stations. The system design involves complex coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including equipment such as auxiliary transformers, switchgear, diesel generators, batteries, UPS, and cables. We are expanding our team with a Senior Project Engineer.
This hybrid role (2-3 days in the office) is based in Glasgow or Birmingham, with some international travel for meetings and site supervision.

How you’ll make an impact
1. Be part of a global team responsible for auxiliary power equipment delivery, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality outcomes.
2. Coordinate team tasks, and manage contacts with other departments, customers, and suppliers.
3. Accountable for auxiliary power system design, including SLD, load calculations, equipment specifications, supplier review, FAT, cable design, installation supervision, and commissioning.
4. Align HVDC Base Design concepts with grid code and customer requirements.
Your background
1. Several years of technical and leadership experience, including planning, delegation, and follow-up.
2. Experience in auxiliary power, selectivity studies, or low voltage equipment installation/commissioning.
3. Good knowledge of Grid Code, National Grid, and SSE customer requirements.
4. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
5. Experience working in international teams or companies.
