Join a leading main contractor with over 170 years of experience specialising in construction, civil engineering, across various sectors including healthcare, education, defence, industrial, retail, leisure, transport infrastructure, marine, commercial, and more.
Location: Port of Dover, involved in the extension/refurbishment project.
As a Site Engineer you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of construction and civil engineering project at the Port of Dover. You will primarily oversee quality assurance, health and safety compliance (RAM), and contractor management. While some setting out tasks may be required occasionally, the focus will be on hands-on project oversight and management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct quality assurance checks and maintain high standards of workmanship.
2. Implement and monitor the site-specific RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement).
3. Manage and coordinate contractors to ensure adherence to project timelines and specifications.
4. Undertake hands-on engineering duties as required, supporting the project team with technical expertise.
5. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues promptly.
6. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
7. Contribute to progress meetings and provide regular updates on project status.
8. Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, site reports, and as-built drawings.
Additional Requirements:
9. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
10. Proven experience as a Site Engineer or similar role in civil engineering projects with a main contractor
11. Strong understanding of construction methodologies, health and safety guidelines, and quality standards.
12. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
13. Willingness to work hands-on and on-site as necessary
14. Experience in port and harbour developments or related sectors would be advantageous.
