Social Worker - Children's Looked After Team - Durham County Council

Durham County Council iare seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join their Children's Looked After Team. They are committed to providing high-quality, person-centered support to children in care and their families, ensuring they receive the care and resources they need to thrive.
About the Role
As a Social Worker in our Children's Looked After Team, you will play a vital role in supporting children in care and their families, promoting their well-being and ensuring their rights are protected. You will:
* Work directly with children and young people in care, building strong relationships and providing guidance, support, and advocacy.
* Conduct thorough assessments of their needs, including their emotional, educational, and physical well-being.
* Develop and implement individualised care plans, ensuring tailored support is provided based on the child's individual circumstances and aspirations.
* Collaborate with a wide range of professionals, including foster carers, adoptive families, schools, health professionals, and other agencies, to create a cohesive and integrated support network.
* Ensure the child's voice is heard and their views are considered in decision-making, advocating for their needs and promoting their best interests.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, adhering to relevant legislation and policies.
Who we're looking for:
We are looking for a highly motivated and empathetic Social Worker with a strong understanding of the needs of children in care and their families.
You will have:
* A recognised social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, BSC Social Work)
* A valid Social Work England registration
* Significant experience working with children in care, including experience in care planning and reviews
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse individuals
* A deep understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures relating to children in care
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children
