Job overview
The Pharmacy Department is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to become part of our stores team at Furness General Hospital. The main duties will include working in a busy Pharmacy store, receiving, issuing, and putting away medication, providing safe, timely, appropriate, cost-effective, and high-quality pharmaceutical services.
You must be able to work as a team member and independently; although Pharmacy experience is not essential for this post, you must be willing to complete appropriate on-the-job training.
Main duties of the job
1. Adhere to legislation, national and local standards, and procedures in all tasks performed.
2. Participate in the introduction and use of new technology and techniques in accordance with the needs of the service.
3. Work as a member of the pharmacy team to provide safe, timely, appropriate, and high-quality pharmaceutical services covering reception, purchasing, distribution, and put away.
4. Acquire, with training, a working knowledge of the pharmacy computer system in order to use it as required following departmental policies and procedures.
5. Maintain stock and consumable levels ensuring stock rotation within designated areas in accordance with procedures.
6. Perform general tidying and non-domestic cleaning duties in the department as needed, ensuring the safe disposal of waste.
7. Awareness of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations for the storage, handling, and disposal of pharmaceutical products.
Person specification
Education and qualifications
* Good basic education to GCSE level or equivalent - Including numeracy & literacy
* Willing to work towards NVQ 2 and BTEC – Pharmacy services
* Willing to work towards NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services
Experience
* Experience in hospital or community pharmacy is desirable.
Skills, ability and knowledge
* Good communication skills, written/oral
* Basic computer experience/keyboard skills
* Accuracy
* Ability to work under pressure
