We are looking to recruit a Senior Continuous Improvement Engineer that will predominantly be based at our Shipley site with occasional requirements to work from our other UK sites. The role is responsible for using Lean Six Sigma principles to drive operational improvements across the plant operations. The role will be involved in the planning, scheduling, training, and implementation of continuous improvement activities and growing a CI culture within the company.
The ideal candidate will be a "vehicle of change" and will be comfortable working with all levels within the organisation with the ability to challenge the status quo with effective communication skills.
Primary responsibilities will also include, but are not limited to, leading continuous improvement projects, as well as monitoring and coaching peers. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to apply Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology to implement manufacturing excellence initiatives and lead lean projects aimed at reducing waste and improving quality to deliver customer satisfaction and implement tools such as: 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM, and Kaizen. The ideal candidate will have experience in training and leading cross-functional continuous improvement teams, focusing on measurable quality, service, and cost improvements. The ideal candidate must be aware of and support the implementation of formal six sigma tools to reduce process and product variation and implement such tools such as: SPC, Process Capability, Pareto analysis, Fishbone, SMED, DoE.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to demonstrate the knowledge of and involvement in CI projects, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and to follow standard project methodologies such as DMAIC.
About you
Candidates must hold a HNC or above in Mechanical Engineering in addition to being green belt trained and be working towards a formal Black belt qualification or have the capacity to undertake approved training. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to train, coach and motivate peers in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques and drive the standardisation of processes and the implementation of metrics and best practices. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills to communicate technical information with various stakeholders; together with strong verbal and written skills, problem solving skills, the ability to work effectively within, and across, project teams and be highly organised with a high level of attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a high quality of work, adaptability and think strategically to support CI in the future.
