Join our Environment and Sustainability Team at NHSBSA as an Environment Advisor.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to support the development and delivery of the NHSBSA Environment Strategy and action plan.
You will lead on key aspects including the maintenance and enhancement of our organisation-wide Environmental Management System certified to ISO14001.
You will work alongside multiple teams across the NHSBSA to drive environmental improvements and have the opportunity to shape and oversee the organisation's carbon management plan.
Main duties of the job
Support the Environment and Sustainability Lead in the development and delivery of the NHSBSA environment strategy.
Work in partnership with the Estates Senior Management Team to design and oversee the organisations carbon management plan.
Maintain and enhance the NHSBSA's Environmental Management System (EMS).
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, government mandate and procedures
Develop and implement environment and sustainability policies, procedures, guidance and systems
Develop the NHSBSA environmental reporting framework to measure and monitor the performance of NHSBSA environmental targets, and oversee the organisation’s reporting regimes.
Provide relevant insight and critical analysis related to the NHSBSAs Environment Strategy and key impacts

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As an Environment Advisor, you will be responsible for managing an Environmental Management System, understanding environmental legal requirements and central government mandates, developing and implementing a carbon management plan, and working alongside estates teams on carbon management.
You will also have knowledge and experience of carbon accounting and measuring/monitoring environmental performance. You will also be responsible for implementing and reporting against central government mandates such as the Greening Government Commitments.

Essential criteria
3. Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience/qualification) in a relevant subject
4. Evidence of on-going continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
5. Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject
6. IEMA or other equivalent membership of professional body.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
7. Working knowledge of environment and sustainability, law, policies and standards.
8. Working knowledge and understanding of best practice relating to environment and sustainability
9. Working knowledge of Environmental Management Systems (e.g. ISO 14001).
10. Working knowledge of carbon accounting standards and greenhouse gas emission reduction
11. Ability to assess potential legal risks and problems and make sound judgements around issues that may have an adverse effect on the business from environment and sustainability perspectives.
