About the role We are looking for a Frontend Team Lead to join our product development organization. As a key member of the frontend discipline, you will work closely with UX designers, product managers, and other engineers to develop web applications featuring sophisticated data visualisations. You will also provide hands-on technical leadership and managerial oversight to our team of frontend engineers, ensuring that our solutions are high-performing, scalable, secure, and deliver a best-in-class user experience. This role offers a unique opportunity to define frontend development standards at Secondmind and build a successful team of frontend engineers. Key responsibilities As a Frontend Team Lead, you will: Collaborate cross-functionally, to implement and support customer-focused solutions as part of one of our product development squads. Be accountable for frontend technology choices and architecture to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of frontend solutions. Set and communicate the vision for frontend engineering, ensuring alignment and commitment across the team and business. Lead and mentor a diverse team of frontend engineers, fostering a high-performance culture. What skills, experience, and qualifications do you need to succeed in this role? Essential Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with at least two years of experience leading technical teams. Expertise in designing maintainable and high performance web applications in a commercial setting, with a minimum of five years of experience. Proven track record of delivering high quality React frontends, including the use of data visualisation libraries such as Chart.js or D3.js. Strong advocate for best practices in frontend engineering, including automated testing with tools like Jest and Playwright. Desirable Familiarity with build tools like Vite, UI component libraries such as Material-UI, and authentication systems like Auth0. Experience with version control systems (e.g., GitHub) and continuous integration systems such as Jenkins. Proficiency in cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform and deployment tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
