The role Exciting Opportunity to join a Lloyds Market Syndicate that is in year one of a multi-year Data & Analytics Transformation program using Modern Cloud Technologies that aims to create a market leading data function and cloud enabled data lake and warehouse that aims to support current and future data needs of a growing Lloyds Syndicate. The MI Data Analyst is a multifaceted role that aims to encompass a blend of technical, analytical, and soft skills. Ideally with an Insurance background in Lloyds or Commercial Insurance. You will have experience in a techno functional role within a data function or data programs/projects. We are seeking a highly skilled MI Analyst, with a focus in Data Analysis and MI reporting and specialising in Data Quality and Governance. This role involves a balanced mix of technical development, client engagement, and governance responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering high-quality insights, operationalising data governance frameworks, and fostering data-driven decision-making. Additionally, the role will include supporting data governance standards, and leading prototyping of sophisticated data solutions and reporting products / MI and dashboarding. We currently operate a hybrid working model. This entails 3 days per week collaborating with colleagues in the office, and 2 days working from home. Interviews are expected to take place from week commencing 6 th January. Key responsibilities Technical MI Development & Analysis (50%) Design, develop, and maintain MI dashboards and reports to provide actionable insights for stakeholders. Develop, optimise, and troubleshoot SQL queries for data extraction, Data Quality rules, Data Profiling, and analysis. Leverage tools like Power BI (or similar) to create visually compelling, interactive reports. Conduct data profiling and analysis of data sets to define quality and health of information. Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of the data used in reporting and analytics. Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to enhance data pipelines and reporting infrastructure. 2. Client-Facing Engagement (20%) Act as a point of contact for business stakeholders to understand their data and reporting needs. Define and map data flows and data controls and produce / maintain documentation. Report on data errors and issues by presenting findings and insights to non-technical audiences, translating complex data into business value. Support stakeholders in interpreting reports and leveraging insights to drive business decisions. Provide training and guidance on the use of data tools and governance processes. 3. Data Governance and Quality (30%) Contribute to the rollout of the established Data Governance Framework to new offices, specifically the Swansea ERS office. Work with cross-functional teams to operationalize data governance policies and standards. Develop and implement Data Quality (DQ) monitoring and management reports using tools like Microsoft Purview. Perform root cause analysis for data quality issues and recommend corrective actions. Support the establishment and enforcement of data stewardship roles, responsibilities, and workflows. Advocate for data quality and governance best practices across the organization. Qualifications, skills and experience Specification and Documentation : Ability to write functional specifications and supporting designs ranging from: Mapping specs, data flows, report designs, SQL and pseudo code, functional design documents and using diagrams and appropriate templates to convey complex process, systems, designs or data. Data Analysis and Investigations: Utilise Complex SQL, Excel ,and Power BI to perform advanced data analysis and prototyping to bring to life ideas and or to provide actionable insights and recommendations. Analytical Process Improvement: Assess and enhance data analysis processes for increased efficiency and accuracy. Insightful Recommendations: Provide recommendations based on data analyses that influence key business decisions and solution design. Data Governance: Ensure adherence to data governance framework, support implementation of specific areas of framework, define procedures to maintain data integrity and compliance and support specific initiatives in partnership with Data Governance teams Reporting, Visualisation and data story telling: Use data visualization tools to create reports that communicate complex data in an understandable manner, have experience and understand of displaying data effectively to design compelling reports and dashboards that help convey insight for improved decision making. Training, Presentation and coordination: Train colleagues and business users of usage of data governance outputs and present confidently on outputs of data analysis and reports. And coordinate activities required from departments on specific data initiatives. Quality Assurance: Run quality assurance, UAT on data projects and data solutions designed to ensure the reliability of data sources, calculations and specifications produced. Project Collaboration: Collaborate with business teams, project managers, architects, and technical leads to ensure successful project implementation. Industry Experience: Experience in Commercial Insurance, or Insurance industry experience would be a preference.
