Management Accountant
Dual Site: Blackpool & Manchester
We are looking to recruit a commercially minded, experienced Management Accountant with a proven track record in delivering high-quality financial reporting and analysis within a fast-paced environment, to join our client, a growing business with offices in both Blackpool and Manchester.
This is a key role within the finance team, responsible for delivering insightful financial reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring the smooth running of month-end processes. You will be involved in key commercial decision-making and have the chance to make a tangible impact on the company’s financial performance.
The successful candidate will play a critical part in driving commercial performance, providing financial analysis to senior stakeholders, and supporting ongoing improvements within the finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the month-end process, including the preparation of management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
2. Produce detailed variance analysis on key financial drivers such as customer numbers, consumption volumes, pricing, and costs
3. Prepare and deliver monthly financial performance reports for executive and Board-level review
4. Lead the preparation of year-end audit files and act as the main point of contact for external auditors
5. Prepare VAT and corporate tax returns in coordination with Group tax advisors
6. Manage intra-group cost allocations, pricing structures, and transfers
7. Provide financial modelling and analysis to support the commercial team, particularly around customer demand, costing, and margin strategy
8. Evaluate new business opportunities, channels, and portfolio optimisation strategies
9. Support and mentor junior members of the finance team to aid their professional development
Desirable Skills and Experience:
1. CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualified or similar
2. Experience in a finance role, with business partnering experience at senior stakeholder level
3. Strong understanding of financial and management accounting practices
4. Experience using financial accounting software (e.g., SAGE)
5. Knowledge of billing systems and CRM data interrogation is highly advantageous
6. Commercially aware, with experience in financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting within complex customer life cycles
7. Strong analytical skills with a focus on delivering actionable insights
8. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders
