Maple View School – Deputy Head of Care
Full time,37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks
Primarily Monday to Friday but at busy times you must be willing to support on shift which may include weekends and bank holidays
Salary range: £ 28,500 – £31,500 (dependent on experience & qualifications)
Contract: Permanent
Annual leave entitlement: 33 days
Maple View School is a small independent specialist school for children with moderate to severe learning difficulties, aged 6 to 16 years. It is located in Mackworth, a suburb of Derby, the school is a short distance from the City Centre.
At Maple View we cater for children with a range of needs such as:
* Autism
* Moderate to severe learning difficulties
* Speech, language and communication difficulties
Currently we have 6 residential children with capacity for 7.
An opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Head of Care to join the Maple View Care management team. If you are currently a Team Leader ready for your next step into social care management this opportunity could be for you.
You will support the Registered Manager to lead the children’s home and provide direction, guidance, support and leadership to all residential care staff in their delivery of a coherent care service in accordance with the principles & values contained in the School Policy Documents and regulatory requirements.
You will model best practice approaches and support staff and managers through significant challenging episodes with children, as well as being a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) within the home.
We are looking for someone with at least two years’ experience of working with children who present with challenging behaviours, who can be an inspirational leader with a positive outlook and has the ability to motivate the team. You will hold the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare and be willing to study for the Level 5 Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare. At busy times you must be willing to support on shift which may include weekends and bank holidays.
As some driving may be involved in this role a valid driving license and use of car/transport is desirable.
