About us
Stony Dean School is a very successful special school. Categorised as “Outstanding” by Ofsted, we are looking for a colleague who wishes to work in a positive, friendly and caring environment. Stony Dean School is a heavily oversubscribed secondary special school situated in Amersham. The school's main priorities are improving Communication and Interaction, Independence and Employability. These areas are embedded into the school's ethos and practices.
We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work across the school. You will have a mixture of lessons where you will support experienced teachers in the classroom and some sessions leading your own lessons/activities with a very small number of students. You will ideally have experience of supporting and/or teaching across different Key Stages and of planning work for pupils from a wide spectrum of abilities.
You will have some experience of working with children who have additional learning and behavioural needs and enjoy the demands of this. You will be creative, flexible and able to adapt your teaching to respond to individual learners. You will be a proactive learner and willing to work collaboratively with a dedicated team of staff.
About you
You might be an existing LSA, HLTA or unqualified teacher with an interest in SEN. You will need to have a successful track record of working with pupils across a wide ability range and the ability to work effectively with the whole school community. Interpersonal skills will be required to work alongside a team of dedicated and hardworking staff.
Applications from LSAs, HLTAs or unqualified teachers with primary/secondary mainstream or SEN experience are welcome. The role would also suit someone who is interested in developing a career in teaching. All new members of staff will be supported by a comprehensive induction and training programme.
If you would like to know more, please feel free to contact us to arrange a meeting or telephone conversation with one of our Senior Leadership team.
Stony Dean School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.
