We are seeking an Energy Officer to join our team in Calderdale. You will play a key role in supporting households experiencing or at risk of fuel poverty by providing practical and effective energy-saving advice. Your responsibilities include managing referrals and conducting assessments to help reduce energy costs, offering guidance on energy-saving measures, and fitting simple solutions like LED lightbulbs and radiator reflector panels. You will also deliver a range of energy advice services through home visits, community drop-ins, and events for vulnerable customers and local groups. Requirements Please note this role is a fixed-term contract lasting until March 2026 Outline of key responsibilities for the Energy Officer… Manage incoming referrals, complete assessments for households experiencing or at risk of fuel poverty, and provide support both over the phone and in person while building and maintaining strong referral links with partner organizations across the region while raising awareness of the project through various marketing techniques. To give advice on how to reduce energy use in the home and support to fit low tech energy saving measures in people’s homes such as LED lightbulbs, draught proofing strips, draught excluders and radiator reflector panels Deliver a programme of energy advice to customers, including home visits to vulnerable customers, drop in’s in the community and energy advice events to tenant and community groups. Refer clients to appropriate organizations offering support in areas such as debt management, health and wellbeing, and education, while ensuring income maximization within the household through welfare benefits checks or appropriate referrals Maintain accurate records, on the Management information system, of customer interactions and progress. Work in partnership with internal teams and external partner organisations such as Food banks and the DWP to target and provide support for vulnerable households Develop and maintain a suite of energy advice literature and e-learning materials for use by customers, partners and staff. To maintain detailed records of activity within your designated role and update all records and administrative systems for review, evaluation, and monitoring purposes. Participate in an annual performance appraisal and regular 121s We are looking for someone who has A Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle Experience of dealing directly with members of the public in a customer facing role. Knowledge of how to recognise fuel poverty, along with ability to provide advice and support to customers in order to address fuel poverty. Experience of delivering advice on energy efficiency and sustainability related issues Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers, colleagues and third-party representatives. Must demonstrate integrity and maintain confidentiality at all times.
