Agility Working:- This full-time role is based in the UK and reports to the Projects Director. Your work location will be linked to our Headquarters Offices, but you will be able to work within the company’s “Agility Framework and Hybrid Work Policy”. This Policy is co-ordinated so that the day-to-day work base in the UK can be adaptable. The company has successfully implemented “TEAMS” as our virtual meeting platform. Attending the offices may be required for essential client meetings etc.
Fenix has been consistently productive with an agile approach to work location whilst still meeting delivery deadlines. An “Agility Framework” will be agreed with each team member and subject to risk assessment. With reasonable notice, attending sites meetings will be subject always to the appropriate Health & Safety guidelines in force. Note: You must be living and authorised to work in the UK to apply for this position.
As Senior Project Manager, your primary role will be to be responsible of the day to day management of key infrastructure projects and will have proven experience of:
1. Scope and schedule management
2. Risk and issue management
3. Finance and cost control management
4. Resource and people management
5. Benefits management
6. Commercial and contract management
You will also have experience of facilitating workshops and meetings as well excellent written and verbal communication skills, passion, resilience and tenacity.
Key responsibilities and measures of this role include:
7. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, at all levels within the organisation to define and achieve mutual understanding of the scope.
8. Understand what constitutes an end-to-end, thorough, cross-functional schedule for the project and involve stakeholders as appropriate to create a valid plan. Be able to discuss risk areas and convey impacts to scope or costs if a shorter schedule is demanded.
9. Continual management and development of client relationships.
10. Plan the project in sufficient detail to ensure integration of all activities, dependencies, and understanding of critical paths and key milestones.
11. Ensure a comprehensive budget is prepared, reflecting the plan and all resource needs.
12. Ensure non-people resources are identified (e.g. tools, equipment, logistical costs etc.) so that the project budget will be accurate and remain affordable.
13. Ensure all necessary cross-functional resources are identified and that justification for such resources is clear in the event of constraints arising as a result of other work responsibilities.
14. Communicate to ensure that all resources understand their roles and accept their responsibilities and escalate where that commitment is not present.
15. Direct and motivate the project team to achieve the desired results, often using matrix management, and ensure effective communication is maintained throughout the project.
16. Ensure effective management of third party suppliers to the project.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
17. Significant experience within the Rail industry must have proven experience of delivering projects to time, cost and quality.
18. Membership of The Association for Project Management and/or membership of a relevant professional institution and/or relevant demonstrable experience.
19. Robust stakeholder management skills and a natural ability to expand and develop client relationships
20. Experience of different project management approaches good to have managed Signalling discipline Projects
21. Knowledge of and familiarity with membership/professional body roles, purposes, and activities.
22. Sound Commercial and Contractual understanding of commonly used Construction Industry Contracts.
23. Outstanding communication and inter-personal skills.
24. Effective negotiation skills.
25. High-level of IT literacy, proficient user of Microsoft Office tools Microsoft Office, SharePoint and ProjectWise and MS Project.
