Job Summary
Evelina London is at the heart of a network of children's health services in Lambeth and Southwark and across south east England. We provide a comprehensive range of children's health services, so that we are able to look after patients from antenatal diagnosis through childhood, into adolescence and on into adult services. We are the only hospital in London to have highly specialized women's and children's services on one site. This means that our youngest patients can get the specialist care they need on the same hospital site as their mothers. The Evelina London Paediatric Rare Bone disease service provides holistic care for children and families with different conditions affecting the skeleton. The service provides front line endocrine, genetic, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and psychology to children with skeletal disorders. Different aspects of the service encompass achondroplasia, skeletal dysplasia, osteoporosis, calcium and phosphate disorders. Patients come from both the local surrounding community as well as nationally. This centre is a member of the European Reference Network for rare bone disease and also is at the forefront of clinical care as well as pharmaceutical trials into new treatments.
The successful candidate will work in the outpatient and day-unit setting to provide holistic care to children with skeletal disorders.

Main Duties of the Job:
1. Independently manage a group of patients within the specialty whilst working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering specialised individualised and personalised direct patient care.
2. Demonstrate appropriate practice and specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. This includes history taking, physical examination and the requesting of agreed diagnostic procedures/clinical.
3. Provide leadership, support and guidance to staff in monitoring the planning delivery and evaluation of individualised specialist care.
4. Ensure safe and effective care for complex patients requiring advanced specialist clinical skills and responsible for carrying out specialist nursing procedures.
5. Identify and intervene where circumstances contribute to an unsafe environment for patients and staff. To bring instances to the attention of the Matron/Nurse Consultant/ANP/Senior CNS for the specialty.
6. Identify and raise awareness of the educational needs of patients and carers and implement appropriate education programmes.
7. Utilise research findings in the delivery of specialist patient care, developing new ways of working and disseminating relevant information to staff.
8. Be involved in the development, assessment and implementation of guidelines, protocols and pathways.
