Overview:
The Site Operations Manager is responsible for managing overall site operations, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the factory. This includes maintaining health & safety, environmental, food safety, and quality standards, while driving performance measures and service excellence. The role also focuses on team leadership and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Health and Safety
1. Ensure compliance with company health & safety policies.
2. Maintain high safety standards, measured through accident and near-miss statistics.
Quality Standards
1. Maintain strong food safety and hygiene practices.
2. Ensure compliance with customer/internal audits and BRC standards.
Staff Development & Training
1. Ensure all team members receive necessary training for their roles.
2. Support career progression through one-on-one meetings, appraisals, and development plans.
Product Standards
1. Ensure all products meet customer expectations.
2. Monitor performance through quality checks, taste panels, and customer feedback.
Administration & Logistics
1. Oversee supply chain, planning, and logistics functions.
2. Monitor performance measures, cost savings, and service levels.
KPI Management
1. Track and report site performance on a weekly and monthly basis.
2. Provide reports to the Senior Leadership Team and board.
3. Manage budget controls and ensure equipment availability.
4. Analyze downtime and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
New Product Development (NPD)
1. Oversee NPD function to drive innovation and business growth.
2. Develop existing customer relationships and explore new business opportunities.
Decision-Making Authority:
1. Budget controls for site and operations team.
2. Part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
3. Team objective setting aligned with business goals.
4. Ownership of site KPIs and performance metrics.
5. Accountability for site health & safety.
6. Oversight of quality, food safety, supply chain, planning, engineering, logistics, and NPD functions.
This role requires a proactive leader who can drive operational excellence, develop a high-performing team, and ensure customer satisfaction through continuous improvement.
