We work with the battery industry to optimise dry electrode coating, manufacturing better and more sustainable batteries at lower cost. Summary
Anaphite are in a period of rapid growth and are looking for 2 motivated individuals who wish to pursue a long-term career in research and development. Graduate Chemists will work within the Chemistry team and will help develop Anaphite’s dry coating precursor powder.
Junior chemists will combine their knowledge of inorganic chemistry, material science and process chemistry toward developing and scaling up composite powders from hundreds of grams to the kilo scale.
This exciting opportunity would see the successful candidates getting involved in development and production of high-quality materials for Lithium-ion batteries, and building an extensive knowledge surrounding the interesting technologies, materials and chemistries that are involved. You will be working alongside experienced Electrochemists and Process Design Engineers on the design of a scalable compositing process toward functional electrochemical materials.
Responsibilities/Duties:
This role provides general practical support toward the achievement of company goals, encompassing product, process and testing/characterisation skills.
* The person will plan and execute experiments which solve short-term challenges, and execute more complex experiments with the direction of more senior members of staff;
* The person will also be trained on necessary skills and standard operating procedures;
* Supporting Scientists and Engineers in Anaphite's R&D projects;
* Work with a team of Process Scientists to constantly learn and develop skills and support the delivery of high-quality products to internal and external customers;
* Practice and support an atmosphere of safety and good scientific practices;
* Undergo shadowing and training surrounding the development of integrated production processes and materials research and
* Keeping up to date with the latest research, market and Anaphite technologies.
Required Proficiencies/Experience:
* Practical experience in a laboratory environment;
* Bachelors or Masters degree in chemistry;
* An understanding of chemical safety principles, especially COSHH or HAZOP;
* Proficiency in Excel or other record keeping software;
* Ability to work without supervision and in a team;
Desirable Criteria:
* Previous experience with handling battery materials or related energy storage systems;
* Previous experience with nanocarbon handling and safety and
* Previous experience in handling materials in inert conditions.

* Base salary : 26 – 33k annually depending on experience;
