We're looking for a talented individual to join our in-house Legal Team as a Commercial Legal Counsel. Key objectives
The key objective of the role is to provide legal support to a wide range of departments, including in particular Centre Operations, Marketing and Events, Westfield Rise, and Community Engagement.
What you will be doing…
1. Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements including: Service Agreements, MSAs, brand partnership agreements, media-related agreements, marketing and events-related agreements, filming licences, and professional appointments.
2. Advising and providing support to different business units including Centre Operations, IT, Community Engagement, Marketing, Events, and Westfield Rise.
3. Managing and maintaining the IP portfolio for the UK business.
4. Maintaining good reporting and status updates on workloads through the use of Smartsheets.
5. Managing external legal advisors and legal costs budgeting processes.
6. Supporting and liaising with the Data Protection representative on data protection issues and ongoing GDPR compliance relevant to commercial agreements.
7. Preparing supporting document packs (including legal reports and corporate seals) and issuing commercial agreements on DocuSign for execution.
8. Advising senior stakeholders on legal risks in relation to their projects and finding innovative solutions to manage and mitigate such risks.
9. Updating and maintaining the in-house commercial contract precedents database.
10. Providing legal team training to the business including the drafting of playbooks and plug-and-play options as required.
What skills, experience, and knowledge will you need to be successful?
1. Experience in-house / previous secondment preferable.
2. PQE ideally 4 to 7 years.
3. Broad commercial experience and an enthusiasm for and willingness to understand the business of managing retail centres.
4. Ability to work independently, manage a varied portfolio of work, and prioritize workloads.
5. Strong verbal and written communications and project management skills required.
6. Strong team player – working closely with colleagues in the Legal Team (both UK and other jurisdictions) and cross-functionally with teams across the business.
7. Excellent soft skills with an ability to manage different stakeholders.
