This is an exciting time to join the Procurement team at Rotherham Council and work at the heart of the organisation to ensure the money the Council spends is spent compliantly, delivers value for money and provides additionality.
The team supports all areas of the Council, from delivering buildings, transport, infrastructure, and regeneration activity, to commissioned care services for vulnerable children and adults through to business and professional services such as catering, consultancy and ICT.
The procurement team have made significant progress in its improvement journey over recent years and continue to grow and develop in excellence. The team play a critical role in supporting Service areas across the full procurement lifecycle whilst also acting as strategic leaders in the Council’s journey to embed Social Value activity and delivery to maximise the benefit of the public pound through its contracted spend and recently won the award for Public Sector Leadership in this regard.

We have a Permanent Category Manager vacancy available and we are looking for someone with knowledge and hands-on experience of operating activity within public procurement legislation and successfully delivering procurement projects by working collaboratively with stakeholders at varying levels within an organisation. The role will require you to work independently and as part of a team to proactively analyse, problem solve and deliver best-in-class procurement support, advice, and guidance.
With the changes ahead as a result of the launch of the Procurement Act 2023, it will be a great opportunity to collectively learn and work with the team to corporately implement the changes across the organisation.
