Sister/Charge Nurse - Emergency Department

Due to promotion of existing Band 6 Registered Nurses, we now have vacancies for keen, highly motivated registered nurses with Emergency Department experience to join us as a Charge Nurse/Sister. The opportunity will allow you to enhance your Emergency skills and professional leadership qualities which are critical to delivering gold standard, high-quality care.
You will be required to work a 24/7 shift pattern.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
1. Maintain a high level of skills and knowledge as a resource/role model for staff and patients, working towards Level 2 of the RCN competences.
2. Manage day-to-day shift leading and patient flow, ensuring a high standard of care throughout the department.
3. Respond appropriately and professionally to maintain quality, managing critical incidents and escalating events when appropriate.
4. Informally and formally network with colleagues and agencies to share quality initiatives, spread good practice, and accept responsibility for further development.
5. Provide exceptional nursing care, undertake staff appraisals, attendance management, and other operational management and clinical duties. Work alongside the current Sisters/Charge Nurse and support the Lead Nurse team to maintain the highest standards of care at all times.
6. Be a clinical expert and proactively develop your own and others' knowledge and skills. Supervise the clinical work of others and manage the emergency care setting as a whole, managing patient flow and delegating care accordingly. Work closely with the Emergency Medicine Consultant and clinical decision makers to ensure safety of patients and best use of resources.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current UK NMC registration.
* Working Towards RCN Level 2 Competency Framework.
* Degree or working towards a degree.
Experience
* Experience of working within Emergency department within the last 6 months.
* An interest in developing and educating colleagues.
* Experience of working with a wide range of complex clinical conditions.

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year (pro rata)
