Do you want to be part of B’s Dream Team?
We are looking for a team of multi-skilled Advanced Support Specialists who have significant experience of delivering support underpinned by Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) principles. You will be required to provide trauma-informed support that follows structured clinical guidance, building on what currently works well for B. Experience of supporting people with Pathological Demand Avoidance would be advantageous, but in-depth training will be provided.
You will have access to a comprehensive programme of learning and development, including bespoke training from highly respected clinicians and a national NHS team of behavioral specialists, as well as access to accredited PBS Coach training.
B would like a staff team who are happy, caring, enthusiastic, bubbly and supportive. Every day will be different and B likes to keep busy with a range of activities. B loves drama and would like staff who are willing to get involved in drama and role play with her. It is important that you like animals as B loves her pets (a rabbit and a guinea pig) and will need some support to look after them. A good sense of humour is essential. B is really active and likes going to the gym, so needs staff who are active and energetic. B would love some staff who are good at cooking and able to share their skills. Being a talented singer, dancer or being able to play an instrument would also be a bonus.
You will have excellent observation skills and be responsive and sensitive to B’s emotions and subtle changes in B’s presentation.
You will contribute and work towards a psychologically safe environment for B, yourself, and your colleagues. You will be able to approach each day with a fresh, positive outlook. B requires consistent support from a team she trusts and feels safe with, so you must be committed and reliable.
You must also be willing to take part in a recruitment assessment day. Assessment dates are scheduled throughout and all details will be confirmed for successful applicants.
Your values:
The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 in Social Care and strong experience in mental health, working with challenging behaviours, autism and sensory communication, and physical health.
If you do not have a qualification, you will need to have extensive experience in social care.
You will know how to connect with people and be passionate about supporting people to live independently. You will also be a brilliant mentor and share your skills and experiences with your colleagues.
We will develop your talents with a range of specialist training, including the opportunity to learn Positive Behaviour Support methods, Makaton and the Picture Exchange System.
During recruitment you will meet the people we support in their home. This will allow you to see their wonderful personalities first-hand and fully understand the level of support that they require.
