MAIN PURPOSE
The role of Outside Sales Account Manager incorporates identifying & qualifying business opportunities to grow volumes within the agency. Developing and maintaining customer relationships with clients across a range of sectors is primary to this as it helps to ensure long-term volume growth.
The successful candidate will have a responsibility to manage their portfolio of accounts to ensure that all customers receive a five-star journey in all aspects of the day-to-day service delivery. It is a key requirement for the successful candidate to be able to demonstrate internal and external stakeholder management to manage business opportunities.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Achieve budgeted volume targets across their portfolio of customers.
2. Manage Business pipeline effectively to increase volumes across their portfolio of customers.
3. Build a pipeline by identifying and qualifying new opportunities.
4. Follow up on sales leads to secure new business.
5. Using different platforms to search for new business opportunities and sales leads.
6. Establish and maintain excellent customer relationships through regular interactions including face-to-face meetings, MS Teams meetings, and regular phone calls.
7. Perform pipeline compliance to ensure success of all volumes are accurately recorded, monitored, and delivered.
8. Ensure any customer issues raised are managed and resolved in a timely manner by demonstrating effective internal communication between relevant departments.
9. Represent CMA-CGM SSL at relevant functions, workshops, and exhibitions when required.
10. Ensure the smooth handover of accounts to the customer service team and other agencies through effective communication and stakeholder management.
11. Create and promote a positive support network for your customers through effective teamwork and communication with the other agencies.
12. Managing customer invoice disputes and performing route cause analysis to avoid repeats.
13. Creating new sales leads or exploring new verticals not only acting on sales leads given.
14. Always looking to differentiate themselves from the competition.
KPIS/MEASURES/LIMITS OF AUTHORITY FOR ROLE
1. Achieve/try to exceed controlled customers' budgeted volumes.
2. Increase opportunity conversion rate by managing them effectively with HO Trade.
3. Meet a minimum number of customer interactions on a weekly basis.
4. Produce weekly/monthly/quarterly updates on key data, analysis of volume gains and losses, sales activities, and business opportunities/threats from other lines etc.
5. Meeting targets for cross-selling opportunities, value-added services.
KEY COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
1. In-depth knowledge of the shipping industry – knowledge of the short-sea market is a bonus.
2. Technical skills in developing specialist supply chain networks.
3. Demonstrated experience in a sales environment.
4. Experience of effective customer meeting skills.
5. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Proven development skills ie, sales and marketing strategy planning.
7. Adaptable, flexible and solutions-driven with sound decision-making skills.
8. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
1. Strong commercial/sales background with proven negotiating skills.
2. Shipping or Logistics company experience including European supply chain.
3. Understanding of systems to extract and interpret sales data.
4. Disciplined in meeting timed deadlines and set targets.
5. Effective leader and good team player.
6. Proven innovative experience in building network solutions.
