Engineering Director Surrey, UK
£120-140k + bonus + benefits
This role would suit a proven engineering leader with a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills and demonstrable experience of taking complex safety critical automotive products from concept into production.
This role exists within an established, innovative automotive technology company. As engineering director you will work with the CTO and lead a group of multi-skilled engineering managers to develop electric propulsion systems for the automotive electric vehicle market.
Engineering Director – requires:
* Excellent leadership skills – leading, building and developing teams and individuals
* Strong technical skills – excellent understanding of electric powertrain / EDU systems (electric motor, inverter, etc) An appreciation of electronics, mechanical engineering and software.
* Product delivery – demonstrable experience of taking products from concept into manufacture. Specifically this company is keen to recruit an individual with experience of delivering complex safety critical systems (e.g. electric powertrain systems) to automotive OEM platforms.
As an influential leader, motivator and communicator, you will work proactively to develop high performing teams. Furthermore you will develop processes to enable efficient product development leading to vehicle platform integration and high volume production.
Engineering Director - Skills and experience required:
* A degree or masters in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. automotive engineering, electronic engineering, software engineering, etc)
* Excellent leadership skills – leading, building and developing teams and individuals
* Strong technical skills – excellent understanding of electric powertrain / EDU systems (electric motor, inverter, etc) An appreciation of electronics, mechanical engineering and software.
* Product delivery – demonstrable experience of taking products from concept into manufacture. Specifically, this company is keen to recruit an individual with experience of delivering complex safety critical systems (e.g. electric powertrain systems) to automotive OEM platforms.
* Good commercial awareness and business acumen – aware of product cost down, NPI, etc
* A background in product development, ideally having spent several years within engineering design (mechanical, electronic or software engineering).
* First hand experience of electric drive units (electric motors / inverters) would be great.
The company is involved with the design and manufacture of innovative electric vehicle powertrain systems for automotive electric vehicle applications. Hence candidates with direct experience of electric drivetrain / EDUs (electric motor / inverter) would be required.
