The Role;
Working with the planning team to ensure effective running of the day-to-day Knowles Logistics fleet.
Planning and managing effective movement of freight around the country, including providing strong planning of the operational logistics arm of the business.
Effective communication with the customer service team to meet customer demands and provide the best customer service possible to internal and external stakeholders.
Must Haves
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a fast-paced transport or logistics environment
* Operator licensing awareness along with up-to-date knowledge of compliance such as gross weights, construction and use regulations, Working Time Directive, and EU Drivers hours
* PC literate – Sound working knowledge of Microsoft packages, traffic management and warehouse management systems, and other IT/web-based systems
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Highly organised, self-sufficient, able to work autonomously and as part of a team, act on own initiative, and meet tight deadlines
* Flexible approach to work and hours, adaptable to change
* UK geographical knowledge
* Good people skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
* Proactive with quick decision-making skills and the ability to communicate changes swiftly to those affected
* A highly organised self-starter, responsible for own actions and decisions
Key Accountabilities
* Ensure the effective running of the fleet through:
* Allocation of 100% of the daily plan to drivers and loads with planners
* Following and updating the execution of the daily plan, including system updates
* Maximising drivers' working hours within the Tachograph and WTD framework
* Deciding with planners on the number of vehicles required for shipments
* Communicating issues or failures that are unavoidable to relevant parties
* Proactively managing the fleet, including load re-planning and driver adjustments
* Communicating the plan to drivers to ensure timely pickups and deliveries
* Briefing and debriefing drivers on daily plans
* Collaborating with driver debrief administrators
* Participating in daily operational meetings and providing timely updates
* Working with planners to meet customer requirements
* Reviewing load plans and contingency strategies
* Entering all job movements into relevant systems
* Reporting concerns to the head of transport
* Collaborating with other transport team members
* Raising delivery concerns and proposing solutions
* Updating Road Runner with driver and vehicle information
* Updating load information during driver debriefs
* Monitoring warehouse management system for load issues
* Handling phone inquiries professionally
* Communicating with drivers to resolve issues and manage loads
* Maintaining a professional appearance and manner as a Knowles Logistics Ltd representative
