What's involved with this role: Temporary Team Leader Repairs & Maintenance Reference no: Sheffield 0008 8AA1 / 1 Pay rate: £19.02 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37.5 Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 16:00 This opening assignment is for 1-2 months, possibility of extension City: SHEFFIELD Hybrid working, 80% office, 20% WFH Basic DBS required for this role A Repairs & Maintenance Team Leader is required to manage a range of trades operatives of about 10 operatives (team size dependant on trade) and to run the team and small projects e.g. looking at drainage issues, joinery, roof leaks, property damage etc. Effectively supervise, plan, organise and deploy multi trade employees on repairs and maintenance, programmed and minor capital works in line with service and client expectations to the required standards and to attend site meetings/inspections. Previous management experience and experience of H&S inspections is required for this role. Key responsibilities: Successfully lead, direct and supervise multi trade repairs teams which include trades who have extended skills outside of their core trade to deliver a comprehensive repairs service to agreed standards and targets which minimise the requirement for multiple visits. Ensure the cost-effective allocation and deployment of sub-contractors and other resources to deliver the service to agreed standards and target. Supervise resources including use of materials, plant, transport, and in line with the service policies and procedures and operating model. In collaboration with the Co-ordinators, plan all work activities maintaining a continuity of work for operational resources to achieve specified timescales and standards in line with operational procedures. Submit Variation Orders and extensions of time and liaise through to final invoice to achieve clean billing and performance targets. Effectively respond to customer enquiries in line with the appropriate customer care guidance and standards as required and /or undertake any follow up investigation related to the progress of their request. In collaboration with the coordinator, process all relevant documentation and orders from IT and/or other systems, including raising job orders and closing jobs on completion. Provide accurate and up to date management information and other data. Contribute to the compilation of reports, management information and statistics, making recommendations in respect of operational delivery as required. Be a role model and provide strong, visible leadership, supervise and develop your team using coaching and other techniques. Experience of surveying and inspecting assets in a construction, repairs or maintenance service. Knowledge: Demonstrate a good knowledge of an operational repairs and maintenance service. Demonstrate high level of knowledge of health and safety regulations, legislation and practices and procedures in an operational environment. Demonstrate knowledge of construction legislation and statutory requirements and good practice/guidance including CDM. Good understanding of customer excellence and an ability to recognise diverse customer needs. Skills & Abilities: Strong customer service skills. Ability to effectively supervise employees and other resources in an operational construction, repairs or maintenance environment. Ability to motivate and lead employees to deliver high performance. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to positively promote understanding to a variety of audiences using a variety of communication channels. Ability to make effective decisions, acting in the best interests of the and involving others where appropriate. Resilient approach and the ability to deliver results to tight deadlines and under pressure. Willing and able to work flexibly in the interests of the service and able to work outside of office hours for example to attend evening and weekend meetings and overnight events. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
