Job Description
We are currently seeking a Deputy Ecology Lead for our client to work on a large construction site in Suffolk.
This will be a contract role to run for 6-12 months. This will be site based in Suffolk 5 days per week.
As the Deputy Ecology Delivery Lead, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful delivery of ecological services for the project. You will work closely with the Ecology Delivery Lead and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that mitigate potential impacts on the environment, protect biodiversity, and promote sustainable practices throughout the projects lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
• Assist the Ecology Delivery Lead in planning, coordinating, and executing ecological surveys, assessments, and monitoring programs.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of ecological management plans and programmes, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices.
• Work closely with the ecological team to identify and evaluate potential ecological risks and impacts associated with the project, providing recommendations for mitigation measures.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, regulators, and local communities, to ensure effective communication and engagement regarding ecological matters.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor compliance with ecological requirements and standards.
• Support the development and delivery of ecological training programs for project personnel, promoting awareness and understanding of ecological obligations and responsibilities.
• Stay updated on emerging ecological trends, technologies, and research, and apply this knowledge to enhance project outcomes and sustainability.
• Assist in the preparation and review of ecological reports, impact assessments, and permit applications as required.
• Support pastoral care management of a large team working in a demanding environment.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree or higher in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in ecological/environmental management, preferably within large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
• Sound knowledge of UK ecological and environmental regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and interpret ecological data accurately.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of environmental stewardship.
• Proficiency in relevant ecological software and tools.
• Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Expenses are paid for travel, food and accommodation these are a taxable expense.
