Job summary
Lancashire Hospitals Services (Pharmacy) Ltd is delighted to be able to offer multiple vacancies for a Pharmacy Assistant/Dispenser to come and join our fantastic team. The role is varied with opportunities to work in all three of our branches covering a range of tasks.
If you are new to pharmacy or have never worked in a hospital setting before, please do not be discouraged from applying as full training will be provided. The team are friendly, helpful and by all working together, we deliver a service that we are proud of.
Please note that we have both full and part time positions available. Full time is 36 hours per week worked over four days (Monday to Friday). Part time hours are either two or three 9 hour shifts per week (Monday to Friday). All shifts are Working days can vary from week to week and our rota is published 4 weeks in advance.
You will need to be enthusiastic, motivated and demonstrate a desire towards developing our services.

Main duties of the job
This post is an ideal opportunity for those looking to gain hospital experience and also to those that already have and enjoy this type of environment.
On a day to day basis, your duties will vary and help provide a high quality service to our patients whether this be provided customer service, dispensing medicines or ordering and receiving pharmacy stock.
You will also develop positive working relationships with our fantastic colleagues and multidisciplinary team and be a valued member of the company.

We provide the NHS Trust with the outpatient dispensing service at Royal Preston Hospital, Rosemere Centre (within Royal Preston Hospital) and Chorley and South Ribble District General Hospital.

1. Delivery of a safe and effective pharmacy service
2. Accurately dispense prescriptions in a timely manner
3. Supporting the counter
4. Use EMIS pharmacy stock control and patient medication record system
5. Contribute to stock management Stock Ordering, putting away, counts and rotation
6. Accurate record keeping
7. Comply with Standard Operating Procedures
8. Offer suggestions to improve working processes
9. Maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, health professionals and patients
10. Maintain legal and professional standards

Person Specification
Qualifications and Education
Essential
13. 2 GCSE Passes Grade C or above (or equivalent) must include Maths and English
Desirable
14. NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services
