Job Summary We are currently working with an established independent energy trading house based in London who are seeking a senior Insurance Manager (Energy Commodities/Shipping Industry). The successful candidate be responsible for the company’s global insurance program will report into the head of trading, however, will have key responsibility, advise and support of insurance & claims related matters (except trade credit insurance) for the group - interacting regularly with other departments to establish industry best practices. Externally you will also be working with brokers and insurance providers in the market to support commercial activity and risk mitigation for the wider business. Responsibilities Be overall responsible for insurance coverage requirements (except trade credit insurance) across the company (holding and subsidiaries) Analysis and development of appropriate and optimal insurance program structure Support with negotiation of cost-effective coverage and terms and conditions across insurance policies Management of accurate and timely underwriting data submission for program renewals Support with the management of all corporate wide insurance matters including reviewing new operations, identifying gaps and recommending coverage as needed Coordination of insurance and risk related requests from internal stakeholders including legal, finance, Human Resources, Operations, and global subsidiaries Build and manage external partner relationship including insurance broker, third party administrators and insurance companies Maintain all issued insurance certificates, insurance cover and pro-actively manage the renewals Where required prepare insurance claims and submit it to insurance broker/underwriters and negotiate for the best possible outcome for the company Work closely with legal team on any new sanctions issued by the UN, the US, EU, UK and Switzerland. Communicate these changes to the relevant business as appropriate Monitor, amend and communicate sanctioned vessels and shipping companies as required Provide advise and input on sanctions related clauses in NDA, Trade Finance or other commercial contracts Skill, Requirements & Experience Bachelor’s or higher degree – preferably in Finance/Shipping/Maritime Law Relevant experience of 7 years in energy/oil trading company or in a tanker ship management company in insurance or broker will be beneficial Strong knowledge of insurance markets and trends Able to manage time sensitive information and activities Effective written and verbal communication Good understanding of insurance products, general insurance, coverage, contracts, and the terminology associated with the insurance and commodities industry. Relationship with insurance companies, broker and underwriters Effective facilitation, planning, organizational, analytical skills. Computer Literate in Microsoft Suite, experience in commercial systems and ability to learn new ones. Fluent in English. Proactive and able to work on own initiative Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines Currently based in or willing to relocate to London.
