Our client is a well-established IT developer with over 30 years of industry experience, located throughout the United Kingdom. We provide business software and hardware solutions, including Manufacturing, Production, ERP, and Warehouse management systems. Our broad world-wide customer base ranges from small and medium-sized companies to FTSE 100 and international conglomerates.
The role on offer is for a C/C# engineer working from home who can also install software and hardware at customer sites. Experience in C and C# is required, along with knowledge of hardware and networks. Other languages such as SQL, Basic, and JavaScript are desirable. Our software links many pieces of industrial equipment using IoT to analyze big data and control using AI techniques.
You will become familiar with our range of software solutions. Working as part of a team, senior systems engineers will require you to implement modules within the system designs. Systems are typically Windows Desktop and Server based, with some Android and Cloud implementation.
You will need to be technically and independent-minded. This will allow you to discuss customers' business requirements and relate this to our off-the-shelf, tailored, and bespoke software and hardware offerings to provide the best solution. You will work with customers to install systems and troubleshoot their installation.
You will be part of a small, close team where everyone's contribution is key to providing solutions to some of the biggest companies worldwide. You will gain a good understanding of our products and the many industries we work in.
This is mainly an office-based job, but will require fieldwork as experience with our products progresses.
Responsibilities:
1. Writing software for production systems
2. Training customers on software modules
3. Installing and supporting software for customers (online and onsite), including travel to customer sites for support, installation, and testing
4. Availability to travel up to 50% domestically and abroad for teamwork with international organizations
Technical Competence:
1. Programming software languages required: C, C#
2. Additional programming software languages preferred: SQL, BASIC, JavaScript, and other languages
3. Knowledge of operating systems, networking, and basic hardware for the automation industry
4. Familiarity with Windows, Windows Server, Android, IoT, and Internet
5. At least two years of applicable development experience required
