South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radiographer to undertake a training Post within the MRI departments at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.
We have three 1.5T MRI scanners across the Trust; at Sunderland Royal Hospital both a Siemens Aera and a Siemens Sola are utilised, whilst at South Tyneside Hospital we use a GE Signa Artist scanner.
A wide range of patient examinations are performed across both sites, including paediatrics, neurology, rheumatology, orthopaedics & gastroenterology. An established cardiac MRI service is in operation at SRH, whilst at ST a new cardiac implant scanning service has recently commenced.
The MRI departments operate a seven-day service, covering 8am-8pm (including bank holidays), you will be expected to work across both sites.
We are currently looking to recruit a Radiographer to join our friendly MRI team.
You will undergo in-house training on all aspects of MRI scanning. This will be underpinned by both self-directed learning, and an expectation to attend a suitable external course providing a knowledge-base on the theoretical aspects of MRI.
The Radiology Department is a student training centre for several university-based programs and student training will form part of the role. CPD activities are pro-actively supported and there are a team of advanced practitioners within the Radiology department, several of whom are in MRI.
Main duties of the job
This role will provide the opportunity for an interested radiographer to undergo an in-house MRI scanning training programme. This training will provide the necessary knowledge and skills framework so that eventually, you will be able to confidently support the Lead Radiographer and the MRI Radiographer team in providing an efficient, safety-centred, MRI service.
It is essential that you have previous experience in a wide range of radiological clinical applications. It would be desirable for you to have had some previous exposure to the MRI environment, however this is not essential. You must have both a motivated and flexible approach to learning as the role will present a demanding learning curve.
It is essential that you have strong communication and interpersonal skills that allow you to work well within a team.
Job responsibilities
The purpose of this job is to participate in the provision of the Trust's MRI service across both sites.
