Job Title: Learning Support Assistant – Primary/Secondary
Location: Rochdale, Lancashire
Salary: £85-£95 per day (PAYE)
Type: Full-Time/Part-Time, Temporary/Permanent
We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our inclusive and dynamic education team in Rochdale, Lancashire. The successful candidate will have a passion for supporting students with diverse educational needs within an inclusion base environment at either the primary or secondary level.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide tailored support to individuals or small groups of pupils with varying needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
2. Work collaboratively with the teaching staff to implement educational plans and learning strategies.
3. Assist with the preparation of learning materials and the adaptation of resources to meet the specific needs of students.
4. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teachers.
5. Help to create an inclusive, supportive, and motivating learning environment.
6. Manage any challenging behavior in accordance with the school’s policies and support pupils with emotional and behavioral difficulties.
7. Encourage and facilitate the independence and self-esteem of the students.
8. Provide assistance with personal care if required, respecting the dignity and privacy of the pupils.
9. Facilitate the social and emotional development of pupils, providing them with a safe and secure learning environment.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or equivalent in a classroom setting is essential.
2. Strong knowledge of the primary/secondary education system and current curriculum.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with pupils, teachers, and parents.
4. Proactive, compassionate, and patient approach to supporting children with special educational needs.
5. Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team.
6. A valid DBS on the update service is required for this role.
7. Commitment to ongoing professional development and training in SEN and inclusion practices.
