We are now looking for another team member to join us in the Process Development Team as a Process Engineer Binder, based in St-Helens (UK).

As Process Engineer Binder, your purpose is to develop and optimize the binder application processes across all KI GMW plants. The review and improvement of our raw material portfolio based on performance, availability, cost and sustainability through leading lab studies and plant trials. You’ll have the ownership of all key Binder performance reports, while communicating effectively to both management and plant teams. You’ll also provide binder application support for all new plant start-ups and rebuilds.
What you’ll be doing:
* Become the primary custodian of the binder process within Knauf Insulation, including binder manufacturing, application and curing processes.
* Develop the binder application and binder curing processes to reduce manufacturing costs, improve binder application efficiency, improve product quality, or improve safety. This will involve running trials, analysing and interpreting data, circulating reports and implementing any developments across all GMW plants. All findings must be validated, demonstrating a good statistical understanding.
* Report the performance of the binder application process across all Glass Mineral Wool plants using appropriate Key Performance Indicators (e.g., Binder Application Efficiency and Wash water consumption).
* Play a leading role in the development of new binder application technology.
* Provide support and knowledge to all Glass Mineral Wool plants on any binder / wash water related issues.
* Support the construction of new plants, plant upgrades, major modifications, and start-ups.
* Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; produce regular technical and operational reports; deliver presentations to senior management or other customers.
* Produce quarterly project updates (written and presented) detailing the developments within the binder process.
What we’d love for you to have:
We are interested in you as a person: your attitude, behaviours, and values. As long as you are eager to learn anything you might not already know for this role, we’d love to speak with you. We are looking for someone who has:
* A Science or Engineering base degree, ideally Chemical Engineering/Chemistry.
* At least 3-4 years of experience in a chemistry-related role.
* Excellent problem solving/analytical skills.
* Some industrial experience in an area of process development would be beneficial.
* Effective communication style with confidence to present work to large audiences.
* Ability to manage several projects simultaneously demonstrating effective time management skills.
* Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and deal with changing priorities.
* Ability to work alone showing initiative or as part of a wider team.
* Willingness and ready to travel about 30% of your time.
* Excellent working knowledge of MS Office.
* Languages: Fluent in English; French or German will be considered as an asset.
This is the cherry on the cake (but not essential) if:
* Six sigma / lean manufacturing experience.
* You have some knowledge of statistical software.
