About the team
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Deaf and Hearing Loss Service working throughout Hertfordshire to successfully support children and young people with special educational needs, their families and schools and settings.
About the role
You will be part of our SEND Specialist Advice and Support (SEND SAS) service within Integrated Services for Learning. Our teams work with children and young people with a range of special educational needs. You will be responsible for ensuring that the educational and developmental progress of children and young people (0-25), who are deaf or have hearing loss, is met in line with the Hertfordshire Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Strategy and HCC strategic objectives.
You will be working with Health professionals and parents/carers from the point of diagnosis to support effective use of listening technology, language development, and social emotional wellbeing.
You will provide effective high-quality advice and support to children, young people, their families, and settings including the development, delivery, and evaluation of training packages.
About you
* Educated to degree level and hold Qualified Teacher Status.
* Qualified to teach deaf children or be working towards this.
* You will have a minimum of five years of relevant and successful teaching experience, including recent classroom experience, practice knowledge for the specialism area, or be employed within an advisory service.
* Able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of relevant high-quality teaching and learning.
* In-depth knowledge and understanding of best practice in relation to meeting the needs of children and young people (0-25) with SEND in the area of specialism.
* Ability to model excellent practice and lead by example.
* Be able to evaluate practice and evidence the impact of interventions.
* Ability to use data and performance measures to evaluate practice, evidence outcomes, and identify areas for development.
* Able to travel independently – current driving licence and access to a vehicle for work.
