Production Support Engineers

About the
role
In this role,
you’ll be supporting all production related activities at the Galloway Hydro
Scheme, ensuring the operation of plant and management of water resources is
undertaken in a safe, environmentally compliant, efficient and commercially
optimal manner. The role will also support maintenance and project activities.
Responsibilities
will include:
- Operating plant in accordance with operating procedures and within plant operating limits.
- Optimising generation schedules through efficient water management. Maximising generation value through short and long-term water storage planning, commercial risk assessment and effective balancing mechanism operations.
- Undertaking critical systems testing and plant commissioning activities.
- Monitoring and recording plant performance data for reporting / analysis of key performance indicators e.g. EFOR, EPOR, Availability and Mode Change Failure Rate.
- Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations and environmental licenses.
- Acting in the role of Safety Coordinator (up to and including Interconnected Systems), Authorised Person and Work Sponsor for both the Galloway and Lanark Hydro Schemes.
- Implementing flood management procedures to minimise the impact of severe weather events, liaising as required with local authorities, emergency services, and other external agencies and stakeholders.
- Responding to emergency situations, implementing emergency response and business continuity procedures as required. - - ----- Implement routine testing of emergency procedures and participate in emergency preparedness audits and simulation exercises.
This role will
provide out of hours standby cover for water management, flood cover, emergent
plant breakdowns, emergencies, safety documentation and other operational
issues.
Who we’re
looking for
You’ll need
previous industrial experience in a plant operations, maintenance or
engineering role. This will be coupled with an HNC qualification or equivalent
in a relevant discipline. Ideally, you’ll also hold or be willing to work
towards an IOSH (Managing Safely) certification.
Good computer
literacy skills are required, including working knowledge of Safety Document
Management and Works Management Systems. You’ll also have the ability to
understand and modify detailed engineering drawings and plant O&M manuals.
Demonstrating a
practical approach to fault finding and problem solving, you’ll also need
strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload
effectively. You’ll have well-developed leadership and communication skills
including the ability to effectively deliver plant situation reports to
off-site personnel.
The role
requires you to be comfortable working at height, in confined spaces, over
water courses and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Due to the site
location and on-call requirements of the role, you’ll need to hold a valid
driving licence and live within 40-minutes of the site.
