Yard Operations Team Leader
We are seeking a Yard Operations Team Leader to manage and oversee site operations, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures at our Site at Red Lodge in Bury St Edmunds.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
1. Monitor the organisation of the yard, flow of vehicles and housekeeping of the site
2. Ensure the loading and unloading of transporters and the moving of vehicles between locations are carried out in accordance with health and safety standards
3. To ensure all colleagues complete their tasks to the appropriate standard within the required timescale
4. Providing excellent customer service and support to both clients and suppliers and deal with any issues or concerns in an effective manner
5. Adhere to Health & Safety and company guidelines, and to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
6. Responsible for site security, site maintenance and alarm maintenance
7. Manage employees on a daily basis, including managing leave, sickness and holidays, training and mentoring joiners, assisting with employee issues, and ensuring all employees have the correct safety equipment and tools are in good working order
8. To attend site if call outs required resolving any issues appropriately
9. To order fuel, oil when required and sign off stationary requests
10. Support continual recruitment and development of Yard colleagues and new recruits
11. Report to and work with the environmental agency to ensure all guidelines are adhered to
12. Identify training needs and book appropriate course/ Forklift courses when required
13. Accountable for all the banking/money from the site
14. Complete incident and accident reports
15. To ensure all personal protective equipment is available
16. Carry out weekly site checks and update site diary
17. Support the team to maintain its ISO27001 registration
Here’s what you bring:
18. Ability to lead a team and maximise performance
19. Full Driving License
20. Good knowledge of health and safety regulation
21. Forklift truck license – rough terrain
22. Basic literacy and numeracy
23. Mechanical, Metal Recycling or vehicle maintenance qualification (advantageous)
