Job Summary
An exciting opportunity exists for a 1 year fixed term Assistant Trial Coordinator to be part of the Women’s and Children’s Division Research Unit supporting and delivering high-quality clinical research studies. The unit facilitates the delivery of research across the whole division with a substantial children’s portfolio of studies and an increasing portfolio of women’s health studies. The unit covers all clinical specialties within the Division.
The post holder will support the research delivery team on a portfolio of paediatric research studies including Paediatric Oncology Clinical trials.
A full-time fixed term post role of 37.5 hours/week is now available. The post holder will be with the team based in the UHBW Education and Research Centre and on the Coral Reef (Clinical Research Facility) in the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
Main Duties
The post holder will support the safe conduct of all research, study set up and trial co-ordination including providing direct support for interventional drug trials, in accordance with the regulatory and legal frameworks. This will entail wide collaboration with clinicians and research staff to facilitate the successful conduct of trials.
The work requires initiative, accuracy and attention to detail. The post holder will be in contact with a broad professional group, as well as members of the public, and is expected to represent the Trust well at all times.
Qualifications and Training
* Qualified to at least A level standard
* Up to date training in ICH-GCP / research governance
* Relevant qualification in management or administration
Knowledge and Experience
* Good understanding of medical terminology as an administrator
* Project management experience (evidenced, for example, by previous experience of co-ordinating a research study or project in the workplace).
* Experience of working with confidential and/or personal information
* NHS or research administration experience, including trial set up and data entry
* Experience of working within a healthcare setting in a patient-facing environment
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to use Microsoft Office and related packages, including databases, spreadsheets
* Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines
* Ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with people
* Accuracy and attention to detail
* Ability to be proactive at solving problems and troubleshooting.
* Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomical and physiological terms
* Ability to work flexibly according to role need
* Interest in and enthusiasm for clinical research within healthcare
* Willingness to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
