We are looking for someone to join our small legal team to assist the Head of Legal Services to provide advice and legal support to the Council.
A legal qualification is desirable but we are also open to applications from other candidates. Knowledge of the legal system and the procedures and administration within local government will be an advantage as is knowledge or experience in the following areas:
1. Contract and Procurement
2. Planning and Enforcement
3. Property (Land Transfers/Commercial Leases)
4. Litigation/Advocacy in the Criminal Courts
5. Civil litigation and debt recovery
To be successful in this role you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, maintain strong relationships with client departments and be able to take an innovative approach to problem solving.

This is a politically restricted position; the successful candidate will be speaking on behalf of the Council on a regular basis to journalists or broadcasters. This means that the individual appointed to the role is prevented from having any active political role either in or outside the workplace.
