British Sugar is a home-grown success story and one of the most efficient and competitive beet processers in the world. Around 3,500 farmers based in East Anglia and the East Midlands supply our four advanced manufacturing sites with eight million tonnes of sugar beet every year. We, in turn, make this in to over 1 million tonnes of sugar, serving customers across the UK, Ireland and increasingly growing commercially in the EU and world sugar markets. Salary Range £55,158.66 to £55,158.66 Job Purpose Reporting to the Engineering Lead, the primary role of the Multi Skilled Engineer (Shift based) is to support the day to day running of our production plant. This includes the Bagging and Warehouse, Bulk and Liquid Sugar departments as well as site infrastructure repair and maintenance. Core Accountabilities Working as part of a team of shift Engineers, covering 24/7 on a 3s and 2s, 12hr days/nights. You will support and assist the production team to ensure plant availability is always maintained. You will work on Electrical and Mechanical activities as scheduled by the engineering supervisor, to deliver an effective service to operations, on all proactive, reactive, and planned preventative maintenance to optimise plant reliability. Record all work task data using the INFOR CMMS system. Review performance metrics and make recommendations for improvements and optimisation of processes in our daily team meeting. Monitor & track repairs an ensure all activities are delivered on time, in full and to budget. Obtain costings for parts & services and maintain stock levels. Manage external contractor groups as needed. Demonstrate high personal health & safety standards to ensure you and your team members carry out tasks safely & effectively. Lead by example whilst role modelling British Sugar values & behaviours. Skills, Knowledge & Competencies Engineering qualified to ONC/HNC level, supported by Engineering apprenticeship. Electrical Bias preferable but not essential. IOSH Managing Safely Experience of engineering within complex FMCG environments and industrial scale operations Proven ability to manage complex and conflicting requirements (planned, proactive and reactive) Parts utilization whilst keeping budget in mind. Utilisation of KPI monitoring and reporting to drive performance Effective communication with different stakeholder groups & colleagues and the ability to influence the delivery of standards and actions of others.
