An exciting opportunity has now arisen and we are in the position to recruit a Deputy Ward Manager for our Male Adult Inpatient Service at Rochford hospital.
Cedar Ward is a 22 bedded mixed Male Adult ward, delivering high quality personalised care to people from across Essex.
Main duties of the job
1. To lead and deliver patient centred care aligned with the trust vision and collaborating for care strategy.
2. To support and assist the Ward Manager to provide continuing responsibility for the ward.
3. To provide leadership and support to the unit nursing team.
4. In the absence of the Ward Manager, to assume responsibility for the management and co-ordination of the unit/dept.
5. To deliver a high standard of evidence based care to acute inpatient service users.
6. To ensure the optimum level of safe and effective care within the allocated resources.
7. Act as a resource and source of expertise to the unit team.
8. Support the unit team to build on their own practice, progress their career and enhance their expertise through robust supervision and access to training and development.
9. To ensure a continuously improving service, in line with the clinical governance framework, Trust objectives, and the NHS performance framework.

Job responsibilities
1. Responsible for the clinical leadership of a team of nurses in an Acute setting.
2. Responsible for the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of care plans for individual service users.
3. Work as a key worker advising and supporting colleagues as required.
4. To assist the Ward Manager in setting and maintaining high standards of care and evaluating quality outcomes.
5. Participate in a range of assessments provided during a 24-hour period.
6. To take charge of the unit in the absence of the person with continuing responsibility, including the role of bed manager for the unit.
7. To teach and supervise the team, including qualified, non-qualified and learners.
8. Maintain good standards of communication, both oral and written, in accordance with NMC guidelines.
9. Responsible for reporting to the Team Manager (or nominated deputy) any circumstances that may affect the delivery of care and/or efficient running of the ward.
10. Ensure all staff adhere to Trust Policies and Procedures.

* Working within an integrated multi-disciplinary environment and co-working with other teams and professions within team meetings, case conferences and professional meetings.
Desirable
* Experience of working holistically with Adults with an emphasis on coexisting mental and physical health needs that impact on wellbeing.
