What skills and experience we're looking for
The History department is a thriving, highly valued and integral part of the school throughout KS3, 4 and 5 in which pupils learn and develop in a creative and supportive environment led by a team of highly skilful, enthusiastic historians within well-resourced facilities.
Our teaching staff are specialist practitioners who maintain an enthusiastic approach to their subject areas. We are committed to developing innovative practice and the use of interactive techniques to assist learning for all students. We would welcome applicants with a similar commitment and are very happy to support the development of ECTs with a passion for innovation to tailor this to the students and develop their subject practice in a supportive environment, where staff are valued.
We believe that where possible we can develop learning through extra-curricular opportunities where currently we take students to Normandy, the Western Front trenches, and Auschwitz, increasing their cultural and historical experience through site visits. Strong links to the Holocaust Educational Trust exist with the HOD being an enthusiastic educator for the Trust.
