Are you interested in working in a role which makes a lasting difference to the lives of vulnerable adults in Hackney Complex Needs and Assessment Centre?
We are hiring for an Assistant Support Worker (known internally as Duty Worker) where you can develop valuable skills and experience while playing a key role in providing support to St Mungo’s clients.
Hackney Complex Needs and Assessment Centre is a 17-bed accommodation based service that assesses and reconnects adult single rough sleepers. Our aim is to support our clients to access appropriate move on accommodation within 56 days and develop lasting links with external support agencies.
About the role
In the role of Assistant Support Worker (Duty Worker), you will be the first point of contact at reception for St Mungo’s clients and visitors and have the opportunity to create a welcoming and supportive environment within the project. Other responsibilities will include:
1. Jointly running the project day to day with other members of the team.
2. Working on reception to answer phones, oversee entry to the building, and provide basic advice and support to clients.
3. Keeping communal areas and office space clean and tidy.
4. Coordinating important Health and Safety checks and other administrative duties.
5. Working alongside the team to provide person-centred support to residents and clients.
6. This role works a rota shift pattern over 7 days (including bank holidays).
About you
This is a fantastic role for people looking to develop a career in the sector; a number of current Managers started their career as Duty Workers. If you can demonstrate the below, we encourage you to apply!
1. Good communication skills, and some experience of dealing directly with the public and/or clients or customers in a busy service environment.
2. Personal experience of homelessness and/or an understanding of, and empathy for, the issues faced by people experiencing homelessness.
3. A genuine interest in helping vulnerable people to make positive changes in their life, and the willingness to develop these valuable skills.
