About the Role As Planning Officer in the Enforcement team, you will play a key role in undertaking investigations in relation to alleged breaches of planning control, enforcing the Council’s planning decisions and determining related planning applications. You will be a strong team player with a flexible approach to your work and an excellent communicator. Key responsibilities include: Managing a wide-ranging caseload of investigations and planning applications. Providing pre-application advice. Defending the Council’s position at appeal Ensuring that all stakeholders are kept up to date in the progress of your investigations and applications. Keeping yourself up to date with changes in planning law, policy and guidance. About You To excel in this role, you will need: A planning or planning-related degree-level qualification. An understanding of planning law and policies relating to Enforcement and Development Management. Experience in planning applications, ideally within a local authority setting. Experience in investigative work. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide detailed technical advice and present complex information to a variety of audiences. Strong analytical and project management skills to lead on key policy documents and manage competing priorities.
