Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic, multi-disciplinary analysis team working across the remit of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
The UKRI Evaluation and Performance Team has a mission to maximise UKRI’s impact and performance by leading, supporting and delivering robust evaluation, performance measurement, and evidence, and using this to support learning and improvement in strategy, policy, and programme design across UKRI.
The work of the team is spread across three key objectives:
1. To improve the effectiveness of UKRI-wide evaluation and performance functionality by developing communities of practice, approaches, and resources.
2. To strengthen the evidence base on the impact of UKRI-wide activities, policy, and strategy by delivering effective evaluation and performance measurement.
3. To increase the use of evaluation and performance evidence in decision making throughout UKRI and externally.

The role
As an evaluation lead you will be expected to provide leadership across a range of analytical workstreams within the UKRI Evaluation and Performance Team’s remit, setting the overall direction of your work while balancing priorities within a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
Key initial workstreams will likely include:
1. Providing analytical leadership to the procurement of UKRI’s research outcomes monitoring system.
2. Providing leadership and direction to flagship, cross-cutting UKRI evaluations programmes.
3. Driving forward the team’s work to establish a cross-UKRI Evaluation Community.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Designing and implementing suitable and robust evaluations to deliver reliable evidence that informs policy.
2. Ensuring evaluations are delivered in accordance with best practice in evaluation methodology.
3. Developing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across UKRI, Government, academia, and evaluation professionals.
4. Supporting the team in developing UKRI’s reputation as a learning organisation with strong evaluation skills.
5. Building, motivating, and managing high performing teams delivering your projects.
6. The role may include line management of a Band D or E analyst.
